Radio 1 @ Space 2010

Posted by Gary on Saturday 7 August 2010

My general policy on this blog is that i only really blog about things i like, if i don’t like something then i simply don’t blog about it, im not really interested in slating things because for every person who agrees with me, there are people who wont.

This blog post however is my exception to the rule. I always look forward to Radio 1 weekend and listening to it, i think it can be rather commercial but its on the radio so it will always have that element, I listened to the two shows from Ibiza Rocks Hotel and the atmosphere sounded amazing, The short set the Swedish House Mafia played was immense.

Wonderland @ Sands

Posted by Gary on Friday 6 August 2010

wonderland has been flying since it started a couple of years ago in San Antonio, many people questioned weather Pete Tong would work in Eden and lots of people said he did it for the money.

It doesn’t matter what the reasons were, it has worked. Pete Tong in Eden still sounds strange to me but times change, i remember seeing Pete Tong play trance in Cream!

The first weekend in August is always a good one in Ibiza, Radio 1 roll into town and put on some quality line-ups. This year is no exception. Although Radio 1 weekend officially starts tonight with Annie Mac a couple of nights have already been recorded including Cocoon with Sven Vath Andre Galluzzi as well as Come Togerther, the new night that was recorded last night with Grandmaster Flash, Mark Ronson and Zane Lowe. These will be broadcast tonight on radio 1 between 11pm and 5am, so if you have been in Ibiza all week, you are probably already part of the weekend.

Deadmau5 Cancelled Ibiza Date

Posted by Gary on Thursday 5 August 2010

As im sure a most of you are aware , Deadmau5 collapsed on stage on the 31st July through exhaustion. He was taken to hospital and with strict orders from his doctor he was sent home to recover. This means he misses his next 9 dates which includes the 12th August when he was meant to be playing at Cream @ Amnesia.

Cream have made an announcement that Deadmau5 will not be playing that date and in his place will be Above & Beyond.

Above & Beyond are not a direct replacement for Deadmau5 in terms of style, however I’m sure they will bring their harder edged set with them which you don’t get to hear very often but is a treat when you do.

Deadmau5 is set to return for his gigs on the 19th August which will be his Cream Ibiza gig. I’m sure that night is set to go off as it will be his first set of August, that and the fact Amnesia is the best club in the world ;)

Privilege Cancel Love Parade Party

Posted by Gary on Tuesday 27 July 2010

After the events that took place in Germany over the weekend, Privilege have decided to cancel their love parade party which was scheduled for 14th August.

At the weekend, 19 people died in Germany after a crush took place, out of respect for the victims and their families the party in Ibiza has been cancelled.

I personally don’t think they could have done anything but cancel it, letting the night go ahead would have been in very poor taste and i would have been surprised if many people had gone anyway.

Good call by Privilege, im sure they will replace it with another quality night, after all, surly the Dj’s that were originally booked are available!!

Faithless @ Privilege 2010

Posted by Gary on Wednesday 21 July 2010

On the 4th September 2010 Faithless will perform live in Privilege! If you travel back in time (search Youtube – ku Ibiza 1987) you will be able to see Freddie Mercury performing Barcelona in the open air of Ku. Now don’t get me wrong, im not comparing Faithless with Freddie Mercury but that night Freddie Mercury performed in KU is still remembered to this day.

With the amount of festivals that Faithless have done over the last decade, it’s not unheard of for a lot of people to have heard faithless live already, but it is special if you see them in the right situation. I would be sceptical about going to a standard arena gig for faithless because they play in much better places,  and Privilege will be one of them. Read More …

Radio 1 @ Ibiza Rocks Lineup

Posted by Gary on Friday 16 July 2010

Annie Mac has just released the lineup for radio 1 in Ibiza @ Ibiza Rocks Hotel. Starts off with a different lineup than what i expected but it makes a change from the regular lineup and im sure people will have an amazing time.

It finishes off with Pete Tong with a more recongisable dance lineup being really upfront, It wasn’t long since Aeroplane did the Essential Mix bu then announced ther split, it will be good to see if both of them will be playing.

All in all, a great lineup this year, i personally prefer the second half of the lineup, however if you are there then its going to be a great day with Swedish House Mafia being the cream on the cake.
