Ibiza Rocks hotel had an amazing first year by all accounts with Radio 1 taking over for the weekend, i was only lucky enough to keep track online but nobody could deny it all fit together like and and glove.

I’m sure this year was only the warm up, Next year i expect to be even better. Nice whats the point of this i hear you say! Well because last year was such a success I’m sure plenty of people would love to go again next year, The people who run the Facebook profile for Ibiza Rocks Hotel are now saying that the rooms for 2009 are selling out quick!

Ive heard myself many people booking repeat visits to the hotel as soon as they got back so if you want to check it out i would make a move sooner rather than later.

According to the website if you book your holiday before December 31st then you can get rooms for as little as £10 per person per night which means providing there are no hidden costs its £140 for the fortnight before flights and transfer. New to 2009 is the ability to book rooms with Pool view so you get to see the bands from your balcony!

Cocoon will be in its 10th year in Ibiza in 2009 and in that time they have built a night that is one of the most spoken about and it has a following of dedicated lovers of Sven Vath and everything that surrounds Cocoon. 2007 saw them throwing after parties which became as infamous as the nights themselves, 2008 saw the introduction of the after hours ban and a crackdown on Villa parties. Cocoon still gave it a crack though personally i didn’t hear as much about them.

I’m sure 2009 will bring another amazing season and with it being their 10 year anniversary i would also expect to see something special at some point. These dates have been confirmed by Cocoon on their website though with it still being 2008 you never know what might happen between now and the opening party.

Sound good? Well you can. Pukka up are organising trips to Ibiza for NYE this year and they are flying direct from Manchester and Stansted. You can choose from 4 star or 5 star accommodation. Prices are £399 and £599. For this you get flights to Ibiza with airport transfers, You get admission to to Pacha on new years eve. You also get admission to the secret Pukka Up after party and a goody bag!

Pukka up say they are the only people doing direct flights from the UK to Ibiza this New year. They are selling 115 tickets to boys and the same to girls.

Sounds to me like it would be a good chance to get over to Ibiza during the Off season, however last year i believe the flights got cancelled a couple of days before New Year so try and sound it out before you go and book.

If you see any bugs or problems with the new design then please give me a shout.

In the coming weeks i am hoping to add information about many of the bars onto this site which i think was a big thing missing from the last 12 months. I will also be adding pages talking about the main clubs on the island so it becomes a better place to browse if you want to know about the clubs in Ibiza. I do this site on my own so you may have to bear with me while i get it all written and published

Ive been a bit slow on the uptake of this one but, On Monday morning DC10 was closed again by the police. They have been given a €300,000 fine and ordered to close for 1 year. Mixmag reported that they will still have their closing party, however im not to sure if this would happen at DC10 as the club is now closed after it was open for its appeal, i don’t think their are any more cards left for DC10 to play which means it could be open one last time this summer.

The closure came 10 minutes before the club opened last Monday and one week before their closing party and is a result of DC10 allowing more than 65 people into the venue. As i have wrote on here a few times the legal capacity of the place is only 65 (though that figure changes from site to site) and by having parties every Monday they exceed that capacity.

Ive not really read what other people have said about it all this time but i cant imagine DC10 having many more parties. The authorities are enforcing the law every oppertunity which is what they are there for. The owners will know they will never continue the way they did.

A lot of people love DC10 and its the only reason they go, for many DC10 is Ibiza, it will be a great shame when DC10 closes but it is by no means the end for Ibiza. Circo Loco said they would never have a party in Ibiza that wasn’t at DC10 but on Tuesday night they held a party in Privilege. They obviously want to be partying somewhere and it wouldn’t surprise me if they hold their closing party in another club.

I would predict that next year unfortunately DC10 will be no more but Circo Loco will still be alive in Ibiza.

With just over one week to go before Ibiza’s annual Charity Fundraiser ‘The Butterfly Ball’ takes place for third time and in it’s second consecutive year at Hotel Es Vive, momentum is gaining pace with support, volunteers and donations for the event and it’s infamous auction are still coming in thick and fast.

Pure Madness!

Whilst behind the scenes he goes by the name of Carl Smyth, to the rest of us he’s better known as Chas Smash, kingpin of legendary ska band, Madness. Since the late 70’s and to the present day, and with international hits including ‘Our House’ and ‘Nightboat to Cairo’ and ‘It must be Love’, Madness remain a vital modern musical reference with international sell out tours packing stadium venues as recently as 2007.

Therefore, it’s with great pleasure that the organisers of Ibiza’s annual charity event, The Butterfly Ball, to be held in Hotel Es Vive, Ibiza on 8th October , can confirm that the very same Chas Smash is set to perform an exclusive acoustic set at the event itself. A first not only for the Butterfly Ball, but for the island.

Fresh from a whirlwind of touring stadium venues including London’s 02 , and the summer festivals(BBK Bilbao, Sonar Barcelona), Chas is back once again on the island that, as of one year ago, he has called home. The confirmation of his solo performance at The Butterfly Ball and his overwhelming help with the event as a whole is a clear indication of his generous character and commitment to the island. On the event, Chas says, “It’s the Butterfly Ball’s third year and it’s essential in raising funds for the children. To be of service to both it’s organisers and a good cause is reward enough for my collaboration in the event; I’m very happy to be involved and look forward to playing my part on the night. The countdown begins!”

www.madness.co.uk
www.myspace.com/madnessofficial

APNEEF (Ibiza&Formentera Disabled Children Foundation)

The Butterfly Ball and it’s organisers Jill Canney and Elena Sanchez have chosen local children’s charity, APNEEF, as the cause for 2008. APNEEF is Ibiza&Formentera’s Association for Children with special needs.. Nearly 100 kids from babies to teenagers form the group, whose needs are an extreme variation of mental and physical disabilities. Our aim is to donate them a very healthy amount of euros. We hope we can count on your support.

President of APNEEF, Carmen Bonet, had this to say on the upcoming fundraiser:

‘APNEEF (Asociación de Personas con Necesidades Especiales de Eivissa y Formentera) are very grateful for the tremendous support that the association has received through The Butterfly Ball’ and all it’s contributors, sponsors, donators and volunteers. We are sure that the event on 8th October, organized by Jill and Elena, with so much love and genuine willingness to support the APNEEF children, will be a tremendous success. Thanks to the overwhelming help of all involved, including the press and media, we are confident that we can help spread the word, assuring a huge turn out on the night, all in aid of APNEEF. Monies raised and donated from The Butterfly Ball will help us provide materials and professional medical care in the form of therapists and other specialized medical professionals vital to the lives of the APNEEF children and their families.”

http://www.fotolog.com/ly_8/50391484

THE GRASSHOPPER’S FEAST

After the success of last year’s Thai Buffet Mr. Grasshopper aims to please the palette again at this year’s Ball with a Cava&Cocktail to wash down a sumptuous sushi selection prepared by our Japanese chef. After that, its time for a multiple choice Thai menu from Es Vive’s in-house chefs before sweets and desserts.

A selection of locally and organically produced wines and a hefty quantity of Hierbas ibicencas, provided by Ibicenc vineyard Can Rich should help wash down the feast.

THE AUCTION

As the final countdown begins, the auction catalogue is bursting with goodies already. Donations from household names from the worlds of art, sport, cinema, fashion and music have flooded in .all of them being primed to go under our auctioneer’s hammer this coming Wednesday 8th October. In fact, support has been so great that, due to the sheer quantity of contributions, this year guests will find a few other ways to take home a special something, with raffles, pinatas and random giveaways throughout the evening.

Whilst we are holding back the full catalogue til the day of the event itself, we can confirm that contributors of the items up for grabs include international models Kate Moss and Martina Klein, sports heroes Zidane, Ronaldo and Stephen Gerrard , musicians, artists and producers like Lil Louie Vega, , Dizzee Rascal, Maxi Jazz, artists Luis Gaspar, Marcos Torres, Jesu de Miguel, Sergio Ferrero, Rachel Brown (Hello UK Young Photographer 2007) and many, many more..

Bespoke jewellery from Cyd, botox and hypnotherapy sessions, weekends at Atzaro, Icon Ibiza VIP holidays to London and Ibiza, light shows from Aladdin and game consoles from X-box, concert tickets and tattoos, drinks, dinners and shopping vouchers, smellies and sillies; it really is a something for everyone butterfly bonanza at this year’s fundraiser, ‘The Butterfly Ball’.

THE BUTTERFLY BEAT

Whilst we plan to gather in the exterior of Hotel es Vive for drinks, dinner and auction, as the clock strikes 12, or thereabouts; it will be time to make our way inside to the Smirnoff Experience bar in the hotel for a wiggle to the butterfly-ball-beats of international DJ Jo Mills, Colin Peters, Ben deMiedo, Javi Box(Peter Colours), B’fly&Toga(Girlz Skool), Polly Fey, Ian C and more lovely surprises on the point of confirmation.
