Radio 1 in Ibiza have always liked to change things round a little, They did at one point use the same bars but now its not often they do two years in the same venues, Over more recent years they have done Gala Nights, had a marathon broadcast from space, The windmill at Punta es Moli, The brand new Ibiza Rocks Hotel was last year and this year it is believed that they will be back at punta Es moli. One thing that has stayed (almost) constant throughout and you can always guarantee is a live broadcast from Cream! This year it seems the cream party will be broadcast live again on Saturday August 1st. Over on Ibiza Spotlight a thread has been started listing a few of the Dj’s who have confirmations on their myspace page. Still there is no official word from Radio 1 but im sure they will have some special guests. in the past they have had some of the biggest names in dance music and Ibiza. Paul Oakenfold played there a few times though he took a little criticism for his song choice and mixing, as well as the likes of Carl Cox, Laurent Garnier, Eric Morillo, Sasha… The list goes on. One thing the BBC do have is the ability to get anybody they want to come and play for them.

In 2009 i would expect the more to be made from the Amnesia’s second room that as i have mentioned probably to many times seems to be becoming a main room in its own right!

I think we will see a mix of music spread over the two rooms with each room having its own special guests. When the lineup is announced i will update this post, until then we have

Following a comment on my Radio 1 weekend 2009 post it seems that the radio 1 weekend in 2009 could be held at
Sa Punta de Moli.

A comment from Mr Pink pointed out a Virgin website and the British Airways website which have got information about the radio 1 weekend, the only real information is the location but they both have what looks like the same press release. It seems legit and these companys have had some prior info cause they are massive companies.

It would keep with the trend of Radio 1 weekends of late keeping it fresh, They have in recent years gone from being at mambo and Bar M all the time which they used to host their parties at to hosting them at Punta Es Moli, Space and ‘Gala Nights’ which they advertised as the ‘Abandoned Zoo’ Last year they were at Ibiza Rocks on the opening year and it seems this year they have moved again.

Im not to sure if i have this wrong but im sure that Sa Punta des Molí which is listed on these websites is the same place Punta Es Moli which radio one had a party at before which is were the windmill is, im sure there will be people who can confirm this or correct me if i am wrong and please leave a comment to confirm or correct me.

In an Email recieved by a forum member on the Ibiza Spotlight forum Judge Jules has confirmed that Radio 1 weekend will be held on the 1st and 2nd of August in 2009 which is the same weekend they did last year.

I have been and had a look on the Radio 1 website but they have not yet listed any dates for the Ibiza weekend. Although there is nothing down in black and white at the moment it is the closest we have got to finding out when the weekend is in 2009.

Before you get excited there is currently no confirmed news about Radio 1 weekend 2009. I have started this post because i can see a lot of people are coming on the site looking for information about Radio weekend and emailing me about it. Ill answer any emails though currently there is no information available. As soon as it is then i will be posting it here.

In an Email recieved by a forum member on Ibiza Spotlight Judge Jules has confirmed that radio 1 weekend in 2009 will take place the 1st and 2nd of August. This however has not been announced on the radio 1 website yet but its the closest news we have had yet of the date of the weekend.

Ive listed this as an update after a comment you can read below, There are a couple of websites identifying the 2009 location for the radio 1 weekend. According to Virgin and British Airways websites the radio 1 weekend will be held at
Sa Punta de Moli. Still no official word on this tough im sure radio 1 will be making an announcement soon if this information is available.Keep checking back for updates.

Well the hype lasted for months and after only a few days the weekend is over. If you missed any of the live broadcast then you have 7 days to “Listen Again” the sets and shows are up on the Radio 1 website including

Radio 1 weekend has officially started! Vernon kay is broadcasting as we speak from the Ibiza Rocks hotel in San Antonio. Proooof! i hear you cry! BBC Photos are enough proof for me and here are a selection of photo’s from the ibiza rocks hotel today.

Many of you planned your holiday around it and many of you missed it when it changed weekend, Either was Radio 1 will become part of Ibzia again this weekend for Radio 1 in Ibiza. This season is passing by really fast for me, it dosent seem 2 seconds since the season started yet we are already approaching August!

The weekend will start with Vernon Kay at 4pm which is earlier than usual, then you are treat to a delight for pete tongs show including  Pete Tong live at Ibiza Rocks with PAs from Dave Spoon, Paul Harris & Sam Obernik - Baditude, Axwell, Bob Sinclar ft Ron Carroll – What A Wonderful World, Sam Sparro performing a very special sunset accoustic set and a mix from David Guetta.

The last week there has been a bit of gossip flying round about the date of Radio 1 weekend in Ibiza. I announced here on Ibiza Blog that it would be held on the 1st 2nd and 3rd of August. Lots of people have since heard it’s a weekend later.

I am happy to say that what i first reported on the site was correct and Radio 1 weekend WILL be on the 1st 2nd and 3rd of August. This has been confirmed on the Radio 1 website.
