The Biggest Ibiza Club Nights of 2010

With the 2010 Ibiza clubbing season drawing in fast the usual scramble for the clubs to finalise their lineups and get us hot under the collars with the prospect of ‘special guests’ is well underway. But with announcements and lineups flying from all directions at this time of year its easy to miss the really big stuff so here’s my attempt at singling out the parties which I think are shaping up to make the biggest splash in 2010.

Space opening weekend
No great surprises the Space opening party is going to be big but in what I believe must be an Ibiza first Space are stretching their opening ‘fiesta’ over 2 days. If this translates to success in terms of ticket sales it wouldn’t surprise me if more big clubs and promoters in Ibiza try the same formula next year.

Deadmau5 at Cream, amnesia
With it’s usual powerhouse duo of residents PVD and Ferry Corsten returning to headline Cream 2010 this nights guaranteed to be as big as ever on Thursdays at Amnesia but it’s the nights with Deadmau5 hosting the terrace that we think are going to be massive. This guys had an incredible 12 months and recently sold out Brixton at £40/ticket so catching him in the backroom at Amnesia for €40 with Ferry in the other rooms got to be the biggest bargain in Ibiza this summer! Look out for Deadmau5 hosting the mixmag terrace from the 12th August onwards.

Circo Loco @ DC-10
Ibiza’s black sheep is back on the White isle in 2010. Circo Loco was the dirty little secret of the Ibiza scene until DC-10 got on the wrong side of the authorities. They did one night last year and have announced an opening party for the 31st May 2010 which everyone’s hoping to precede a full season of parties.

Dizzee Rascal at Ibiza Rocks
Genre defying Dizzee is my pick of the Ibiza Rocks 2010 lineup. This guy puts on a great show, he loves Ibiza and Ibiza Rocks is the type of crowd he can whip up into a bizarre indie/ dance/ hip-hop induced frenzy. Florence and the Machine and Ian Brown are my other picks for Ibiza Rocks this year.

Glas at Es Paradis
One of the most important developments in Ibiza’s gay scene in the last few years sees Birmingham’s Glas brand front and centre in San Antonio at Es Paradis. With an opening party scheduled for 17th June (same night as Cream opening) I’ll be interested to see how this night fares.

Hed Kandi moving (again) to Es Paradis
Hed Kandi’s not everyones cup of tea but Es Paradis is the perfect venue for the funky house night where it can pull in passing traffic from the West End. This nights moved 3 times in 2 years which has got to be some sort of record! If its going to find a home anywhere on Ibiza surely Es Paradis will be it. Opening party set for 12th June.

Lets not forget – Radio 1 weekend
As ever this will be a hugely busy weekend in Ibiza 2010. Looking at the calendar its likely to take place on the weekend of 30th July this year – get your Ibiza Ibiza hotels booked now:-)

Ibiza Rocks 2010

Ibiza Rocks needs no introduction, Its always one of the most talked about events of the week when you are in Ibiza and its always a good night out.

Rewind 5 years and there were a lot of people who questioned weather bands have a place in Ibiza but Ibiza Rocks and its popularity shows that there is.

You can expect to see a cross over between bands and performers smudging the line between Indie and dance music. The Kooks, The Courtinas right across to Pendulum and Dizzee Rascal.

The line-up is below though it is not yet complete. When the rest of the line-up is announced i will update this post.

Radio 1 weekend 2009 LINEUP

Ibiza Rocks Completes Lineup

Ibiza Rocks has released the remaining for dates for Ibiza Rocks 2009, Well not all of them as their are still two dates 7th and 14th July that have not been announced but their are some great names been added to the Bill.

The opening Party will see the Ting Tings performing live, Im personally a little disappointed with this because im going to the opening party and out of all the acts this year this is probably one i wouldn’t have picked to go and see.

Groove Armada have been added to the bill to play in July, Im sure this will be an amazing night to go to, the blurb from Ibiza rocks with the announcement says

“The party-starting maestros play their first show on the white island. We have a feeling it won’t be the last.”

Sounds like they already know of another show Groove Armada will be doing this year. One off Manumission Party? Radio one weekend? who knows!

Ibiza Rocks Completes Lineup

Reclaim The Dancefloor @ Eden 2009

Reclaim the dancefloor is the official after party for Ibiza Rocks! When Ibiza Rocks started it was simply peoples favourite bands playing in Bar M, Admitently Bar M was a little tight for space but at the time i don’t think anyone would have believed it would grow into something so big. The laws started clamping down a few years ago which meant it forced Ibiza Rocks into secret venues for their parties and they traveled round different locations in Ibiza and Busing people to the venue, Ibiza Rocks was evolving into something bigger! Last year saw the Ibiza Rocks hotel open in San Antonio, it provided a place to party around the Ibiza Rocks weekly events and it was also home to the Ibiza Rocks after parties. This year it seems that all the Ibiza Rocks gigs will take place in the Ibiza Rocks Hotel.

2009 sees the next step in the Ibiza Rocks story! Their after parties are nothing new but the move to Eden for its own night is. June 16th sees the opening night for Ibiza Rocks and so with that comes the opening night of Reclaim The Dancefloor. Reclaim the Dancefloor is a mix of bands and Dj’s that will all fit into the sound and vibe that Ibiza Rocks is trying to make. 2 many Dj’s will be there for the summer as well as people like Chase and Status and Kissy Sell Out.

If you buy a ticket to Ibiza Rocks then this gets you free entry the Eden that bight before 1.30am. Tickets are are priced at £31 and £42 for VIP, i personally dont think this is a bad price for the gig and the after party. Tickets can be purchased from the Ibiza Rocks website.

Im a little slow with this one but so are Ibiza Rocks at filling in the blanks! (no offence meant!) ibiza Rocks have released some of the headliners this summer and im sure there is something for anyone. Ibiza Rocks started a few years ago now and it was an instant hit. It started off in Bar M but the fun police put a stop to that, It has also been traveling around the island in secret locations bussing people to and from the venue.

This year Ibiza Rocks nights will be held at The Ibiza ROcks Hotel. The full lineup has been released and is:

Ibiza Rocks 2009 – Lineup

It wasn’t even 12 month ago when we all first heard the news about The people behind Ibiza Rocks and Manumission opening a new hotel in San Antonio, Ill be the first to admit i had my doubts when i first found out about it (initial thoughts were that it was a twenties hotel) However how wrong was I! Ibiza Rocks hotel had an amazing first year by all accounts with Radio 1 taking over for the weekend, i was only lucky enough to keep track online but nobody could deny it all fit together like and and glove.

I’m sure this year was only the warm up, Next year i expect to be even better. Nice whats the point of this i hear you say! Well because last year was such a success I’m sure plenty of people would love to go again next year, The people who run the Facebook profile for Ibiza Rocks Hotel are now saying that the rooms for 2009 are selling out quick!

Ive heard myself many people booking repeat visits to the hotel as soon as they got back so if you want to check it out i would make a move sooner rather than later.

According to the website if you book your holiday before December 31st then you can get rooms for as little as £10 per person per night which means providing there are no hidden costs its £140 for the fortnight before flights and transfer. New to 2009 is the ability to book rooms with a Pool view so you get to see the bands from your balcony!

I know its not the end of the sumer yet and it pains me to even contemplate talking about closing parties yet but Ibiza rocks have released a lineup for there closing party. The Whip and LA’s hardcore party purveyors Iglu & Hartly will be playing alongside the closing parties headliners Pendulum on the 9th september.

Pendulum are enjoying great success this year perfroming at plenty off festivals and they have a great remix of the prodigy which has been going down a storm!

Ibiza Rocks Closing Party

Dizzee Streets Rock Ibiza

The folk over at Ibiza Rocks have announced another 2 nights at the now Famous Ibiza Rocks shows. On the 29th of July Ibiza Rocks plays host to Dizzee Rascal who had the hit with “Dance Wiv Me”, It looks like the hip hop / Rap rampage has now hit Ibiza! love it or hate it its here!

Then on August the 19th Mike Skinner and The Streets are performing at Ibiza Rocks. Both nights are expected to be a sellout and there will be after paries held at the hotel afterwards. Both nights are also being filmed to be broadcsat on Channel 4 later this year!
