Do you want to be part of the Revolution? Carl Cox is recruiting now. Carl and the Revolution are not on the lookout for fresh young talent to show their worth and join them.

They are doing this in the form of a Remix competition. If you are a producer and think you have a talent then  why not get involved and show the world what you can do.

The aim of this competition is to find fresh and new talent from anywhere in the world that wants to be part of the Revolution. Remix the tune that is put up on offer and if you win, you will win big.

The competition starts now with a Marco Bailey tune as the first competition. He has put forward his unreleased track  ‘Black Pearl’ for remixing.

If you win, you will have your remix released on Marco’s own Belgium label MB Elektronica. You will also win a really useful SoundCloud Premium account.

This seems like a great competition for budding producers. Becoming a winner will mean you are having your work heard by some of the top producers and artists in the industry.  All the information i have is below, however this is only week one, keep your ears out for chances to remix tunes from other artists. The Revolution Continues – Ibiza remix contests

A new night for the 2010 season is Thursdays at Space with ‘Come Together’. Not a night ive heard about anywhere else, the RA website notes the promoters as Space and Safehouse Management, it could be ‘Safe’ to say it’s a new night created for Space.

Some of the Dj’s ive read are playing and others i remember include Annie Mac, Calvin Harris, Felix Da Housecat, Mauro Picotto, Crookers and Steve Aoki, im sure there was a band mentioned on the flyer which could be playing or performing a set, for some reason Hot Chip is in my mind though i cant be certain about that and there is nothing on their website, there were more but my ability to remember 20 names on a flyer from a night out isn’t very good!

From what i can gather, Mauro Picotto may be hosting his own room under his Alchemy label which is something i blogged about recently in my post No Meganite Ibiza 2010. However on his MySpace profile he only currently a few dates listed so if he does have his own room its not every week. If this is the case then the different rooms could be hosted by different Dj’s rotating weekly which would be good. If this is the case then i would expect to see Annie Mac Presents there as well as Tool Room Knights

It’s a night i would pay a visit to and at €30 i think it’s a reasonable price, The night runs for 9 weeks starting on the 8th July and running till the 2nd of September.

Come Together @ Space 2010

On the roundabout and road going to DC10 there was a heavy police presence with lots of cars and bikes being pulled over and searched, i know police have had a presence outside before but i’ve never seen anything like that before in Ibiza.

Arriving at the club there wasn’t any queues outside so we walked straight in. As soon as you got in it was rammed, the outside bar area was busy but manageable. We headed to the inside room first off as they wasn’t allowing people on the terrace because it was already full, The main room was also very busy but there was enough room to get into the night.

After a couple of hours we headed over to the terrace which was a waste of time, they had let so many people in it was just one massive fight to try to move anywhere which was a shame, it made it impossible to stand in one place without being shoved around. We abandoned that idea and spent the rest of the night inside DC10.

However it looks like a great place and i will definitely be looking at taking a visit this year.

Ushuaïa is a beach club in Playa Den Bossa, Located on the beach almost opposite space at the bottom end of the beach, it only has a capacity of  300 so it will be a very snug atmosphere but reading up on various websites it sounds like it is a really good place to be.

In 2009 luciano played there and on the 29th May 2010 he is playing the Ushuaïa Beach Club opening party.

Clubland 2010 – Press Release

If you have never been to Ibiza before, then there are loads of ways you can check it all out before you go. There is always YouTube, cameras are not aloud in most of the clubs in Ibiza but there is always a nice stream of video’s to keep you entertained and by searching for a specific club night you will usually find a clip to keep you entertained.

If you want a website that is dedicated to video’s of Ibiza and the night-life then you need to check out Dance Trippin TV. The website is based in Amsterdam but the majority of the video’s are in Ibiza and its just a great website anyway.

If you have been to Ibiza, you will and been in a Taxi you will notice that the radio stations always play Dance music! well maybe not all of them but two of them do.

Ibiza Sonica

Ibiza Global Radio and Ibiza Sonica are the two stations that you will have heard while you were over there. During the Summer season they will often be broadcasting from the clubs. I know last year Ibiza Sonica broadcast the Cream Parties Live and Ibiza Global Radio broadcast from Sundays @ Space. I think both stations are excellent and they broadcast all year round meaning you can listen to them right now. Both of these radio stations also broadcast online so its really simple to tune in were ever you are.

If you like the idea of this then the news gets better, Both of these stations are also available as an Ipod / Iphone app meaning you can stream both of these stations.

If this isn’t enough for you then there is another Ipod / Iphone app which will keep you entertained. Amnesia have also got Worldwide Radio, this is another application letting you stream live music from Ibiza.

The Sound Of Ibiza – Online

Last year was a really quiet year for El Divino with no major nights providing the pulling power the clubs need week in week out through the summer season. Hed Kandi were the last of the big boys to move on as they took on space.

El Divino has always been seen as one of the big clubs in Ibiza and quite rightly so, with its location on the harbour it looked a stunning venue to have a nightclub, however, looking good doesn’t keep the club running, I personally never went to El Divino, mainly because they never had a night that attracted me there and over the last 11 years that’s a lot of nights I’ve not been interested in. Add this to the high prices  and its not a cocktail people want to drink.

The news is however that Pacha are now in control of the site. Its not clear what they are going to do with it, it already has a restaurant in it so they could expand on this and have it as a restaurant, they could operate it as a nightclub again but i don’t think they will do this with Pacha being so close. It has been said however that it will be ready for the 2010 season. I think you can tell from my rambling that i don’t have a clue what’s going to happen but if i do find out i will try and not leave it to become old news before i tell you!

LoveIbiza.net offers a community (which i have joined) and it also features interviews with Dj’s and their mixes which people can go and download. I always spend the time to go over to LoveIbiza.net and if you join the community it wont be long till people want to be your friend and get chatting.

I recently did an interview for John who Runs LoveIbiza.net and to return the favour and get to know him a little better john has agreed to be interviewed by me.

Q) LoveIbiza.net Is A Great Site, What made you do it and what future plans do you have?

Thanks Gary! I started the site a few years ago after looking for Ibiza listings and realising Ibiza Spotlight was really the only place to look. Don’t get me wrong, Spotlight’s a great site but I wanted to build a site which was written solely from the viewpoint of the Ibiza tourist like me.

I knew plenty of people at the time who’d been visiting Ibiza for many years more than me and were keen to help me write up the nights and share their experiences, certainly without the multiple contributors I’ve had over the past couple of years the site would not of got off the ground.

Going forward I’d like to see the community continue to grow and be a place where people who meet in Ibiza could keep in touch and organise reunions. Starting a new social network is hard though since Facebook engulfed the market!

This season we’ll be introducing user submitted club/ party reviews so members will be able to vote for and review nights they’ve been to. I’m also looking at introducing a shop and selling our own club tickets.

Q) How long have you been going to Ibiza and what keeps you going?

I first went there when I was 20 so 5 years ago this year. As most people seem to agree I fell in love with the place almost immediately. At that time I was only really just getting into the dance scene so that was what got me hooked.

What keeps me going is the ever expanding choice of parties and Dj’s who congregate there. To make a comparison I always talk about music festivals and how for the price of a weekend ticket you can see 20-30 great bands where as if you saw all the same bands at their own concerts it would take all year, mean traveling the length of the country and cost a small fortune. Ibiza’s the same, in 7 days in Ibiza I can see all my favourite DJ’s, many of whom rarely come to the UK anymore, all in the best clubs in the world- to me its a no-brainer!

Q) What is your favourite non clubbing thing to do in Ibiza?

Ibiza beaches are cool but I’d have to say getting the ferry over to Formentera and checking out some of the beaches over there is the best way to spend your day off in Ibiza (not really in Ibiza I guess!). I don’t think many people realise the ferry from Ibiza town only takes about half an hour and Formentera is beautiful, you’ll come back chilled out and ready for another big night!

Aside from that staying in a villa and spending the day by your private pool, BBQ, afternoon beers- you can’t get much better than that.

Q) What are you looking forward to the most in 2009?

I’m really looking forward to Wonderland at Eden actually, I didn’t get to it last year but heard some really good things from some of the other guys who write for my site about that last year and I loved Pure Pacha before it. Pete Tong takes a bit of flack I think but I’ve seen him stacks of times and I still think he can work the crowd like few other DJ’s.

Also the Release Yourself/ Armada night at Amnesia should be well worth a look with Roger Sanchez and Armin Van Buuren, I’m sure that will be a popular night.

Q) What would be your perfect day/night in Ibiza?

Get up, maybe head up to the north of the Island, somewhere like the beach near San Miguel for some food then probably head back to the villa.

The last couple of times I’ve been to Ibiza I’ve stayed in villa’s rather than apartments, I’d recommend this to anyone. If you get a group together it works out cheaper than San An apartments (unless you go for the real bottom end of the market!) and you can’t beat having your own pool and a bit of peace and quiet after a heavy night.

The ‘perfect’ night would probably be something like Manumission (at Privilege) for an hour or two, stop in at Pacha then head to Cream at Amnesia to catch PVD, then Space! If I could ever put that night together I’d be pretty happy!

Q) What night would you like to see on the Island that isnt already there?

There’s a Brighton based night called the Pussycat club (www.pussycatclub.net) that I always thought would go down well in Ibiza, probably somewhere like El Divino. The hat club that used to be at Turnmills could go down well at Eden or Es Paradis. I’d also like to see Norman Cook with a residency somewhere.
