Radio 1 weekend Tickets

Posted by Gary on Monday 25 July 2011

Its only two weeks away now and Radio 1 will be what everyone is talking about in Ibiza. They are throwing a free party at Ushuaia but you will need a ticket to get in. Tickets can be picked up at a selection of venues around Ibiza starting from Wednesday the 3rd August.

If you’re not down their on Wednesday at the times stated, i will be very surprised if you get a ticket. If you land in Ibiza on Thursday or Friday, then again, i would be surprised if there were any tickets left. The demand to be at Radio 1 events is remarkable and every man and his dog will be trying to get tickets!

If you do get tickets then a free bus will be put on for you.

IF your on the Island on Wednesday then get down to the following places for tickets:

San Antonio:
Café Mambo from 1100
Ibiza Rocks Bar from 1100

Playa D’en Bossa:
Sands Beach Restaurant – 1000
Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel – residents only from 1000

Ibiza Town:
Base Bar from 2000

One Week To Go…

Posted by Paul on Sunday 10 July 2011

Only one week to go and I can barely contain myself, this time next week we will have touched down on the white isle and begun with the fun and fiesta’s!The wait is killing me, its been a long time coming and summer can truely begin! What makes the wait even more difficult is that my girlfriend flies out on Tuesday, this week is definately going to be a long one!

The 5 of us in my party have spent the last week organising which nights we intend to go and what will be the best way to get tickets, time constraints of our flights have led us down the route of pre booking tickets before we go (a first for all of us).

We have been using Spotlight and the Spotlight app to book and I must say that the prices are good and the claims they make about being able to get in on their guestlist when we get there have proven more than persuasive. It also states that only through them can you be guaranteed entry and not just before a certain time. I will update on my return whether these claims are true or false.

Price-wise the Spotlight app is pretty competative, I have heard a number of fantastical stories about cheaper entry and guestlists left right and centre but none of any real substance. Hopefully Spotlight will come through for us and if so will have made our afternoon and early evening ticket hunting time redundant allowing for more beer and bouncy house music and that can only be a good thing!

29 more sleeps…

Posted by Paul on Monday 20 June 2011

Its just over 4 weeks now until we fly out and with the Cream opening party kicking off tonight it seems apt that I post my second blog. All those jammy mofo’s are over there now, sun going down and all there night is going to entail now is 8 or 9 hours of deep tech trickery and massive trance monsters from PVD and co!! A night of lazers, hands in the air, walls of sound, ice blasts, hugging strangers, indoor sunnies and out and out Creamy goodness!! Jealous!!

So they all get to smash it to the sounds of John O’Callaghan and I write to you from my appartment in Manchester, I may not be there in person but I am certainly there in spirit (thank god my girlfriend loves techno too). Daily texts between the lads are flowing with excitement for when we go and we are counting down the days, holiday clothes are being bought and an untold amount of sit ups are being painstakingly ploughed through! The rituals have started, podcasts downloaded to keep up on the summer bangers, calenders checked and re-checked to make sure we hit the clubs we want and catch the tunes we need,  the websites and rumour room scoured and verified to make sure we are with the cool and sexy, young and trendies! We WILL get the most out of our time!!

I really urge everyone who reads this blog and is making a pilgrimage this summer to do everything that is in your power to take one new person with you this year, I will personally buy a return flight for anyone who isnt 100% hooked after one night!

Peace, Love and Techno…

Just Search Reviews

Posted by Gary on Wednesday 25 May 2011

When you’re looking for some ware to stay in Ibiza it can be a stress full-time. If your like me, you book the hotel and flights separate and you can really save some cash doing it this way.

Listening to people and reading reviews can sometimes put people off because the problem with reviews, are that they are personal to an individual with pre conceived expectations. If you just search for some reviews on-line you will be returned with many review websites, www.tripadvisor.co.uk is a big website which has reviews for almost every hotel / apartment / villa you can think if.

When your reading accommodation reviews, take them with a pinch of salt. There are some review websites that give the age range of the reviewer and the reason they stayed in that accommodation. If you get a really bad review remember it may be from someone expecting something completely different.

As an example, i have stayed in the Tur Palace in Playa Den Bossa before. My opinion, 5 / 10, it did a job, it was nothing special but it was clean and in a decent place. I think this is an honest review, i never expect the world when i go away and i do believe you get what you paid for. Now check out the last two reviews on holiday watchdog

Review 1 – 1 /10

i gave this a one only because there wasn’t a 0 what a [–] this was no maid for a week dirty appartement toilet etc had to buy cleaning stuff before we could unpack bed under the settee dirty reception staff useless and very abrupt we booked with alpharooms but when we got there they had no booking off them for us stay here at your peril!!!!! the only good thing was that it was on the beach.

a bad review, i know this is a genuine review, because i to have arrived and there was no record of my booking, i booked through booking.com.

review 2- 10 / 10

Great hotel with view of the sea if you lucky enough, to get this room with view of the sea! Good locality, near the club Space and bus stop for free buses to night club.
It`s more for young people There is a restaurant right next door & they make the best food & are so lovely! The pool is nice & the rooms are kept clean & tidy.

A perfect score and a good review. both people believe they are correct, but they both contradict each other. I also believe the second review is genuine because they have mentioned the sea view, i don’t think someone leaving a fake review would think of this.

What you need to do is read lots and make your own judgement, pissed off people will exaggerate how bad something is, really happy people will over cook how good something is. read everything and take an average.

Ibiza Spending Money

Posted by Gary on Monday 18 January 2010

I can often get asked “how much spending money should i take to Ibiza” and go to all the clubs. A lot of people can go to Ibiza and be surprised that their £500 isn’t going to last them a week.

I have blogged about this in the past but it was two years ago and in that time prices and exchange rates have changed so i thought i would write an update as i found last year was a lot different to years previous.

How Much Spending Money Should I Take??

Posted by Gary on Monday 7 January 2008

A common question that gets asked every year in message boards about Ibiza is how much spending money you will need in Ibiza. The answer will be different for every person you ask. It depends on who you are and what you want to do while you are there. Ibiza can be a really expensive place to go on holiday but it can also be done on the cheap.

If you plan to stay for two weeks and you want to be going to the clubs regular ( 3 or 4 nights a week) and you want enough money so you can eat out for your meals then I would recommend around £1000 per person for 2 weeks. A lot of people say 100 a day will get you buy and I would have to agree. Personally when I go with my girlfriend we usually take £2000 for the two weeks. With this we get to do and go what we want comfortable.

If you think that £1000 is not much for spending then dont worry, you can quite easily bump that up to whatever you want.

If you think £1000 is a bit expensive for your holiday then dont worry. You can still have a great time on less. Get yourself to the pre parties and you will always catch some quality Dj’s and all it will cost is your drink. Also staying at the pre parties till after midnight you will be the first to hear if there are any free club tickets being made available, this can happen for a few of the nights on the island. You can pick up cheaper food in the cafe’s and restaurants around the towns and if you want to save money by having a drink before you go out then alcohol is a good price in the shops.

My advice on this matter would be to save as much as you can, £1000 is a lot of money but you will think it is worth every penny when you are sat watching the sunset with a cocktail.
