Everything was set, Eden had attracted another big name from the other side of the island and it was all looking rosy, Now it seems that Hed Kandi have made a last minute switch back to the other side of the island and they will not have their 2009 season in Space.

In a news letter i have read on the Ibiza Spotlight forums it says that Had Kandi needed more space, the addition of a Nu Disco room just meant that the back room at Eden didn’t provide what they wanted to achieve this summer. 

The decision to move has been amicable and on good terms. Either way it is still a bit of a blow for Eden however i do think Had Kandi will do really well over at space, The music policy they have attracts a lot of people and to have that gathering in the surroundings of space means that this season will probably be one of the best seasons for Hed Kandi.

I have mentioned a couple of times on here now about Hed Kandi and their move to Eden. It should be a busy year this year for Hed Kandi and a very different year in terms of location and what crowd this will attract. Eden has always been more UK orientated with the Ibiza Snob brigade always looking down upon it for not being good enough for them! Pete Tong started the change last year by moving from his very attractive night at Pacha to set up his own night in Eden, Hed Kandi have now followed suit and upped sticks from their harbour side location that is El Divino and now they too are hoping to change the minds of many by holding their night in Eden.

Ive never been to Hed Kandi and i don’t plan to so for me i don’t really care were it is or who is going, im sure lots of people do and I’m sure lots of people will be turning up at Eden every week.

Reclaim the dancefloor is the official after party for Ibiza Rocks! When Ibiza Rocks started it was simply peoples favourite bands playing in Bar M, Admitently Bar M was a little tight for space but at the time i don’t think anyone would have believed it would grow into something so big. The laws started clamping down a few years ago which meant it forced Ibiza Rocks into secret venues for their parties and they traveled round different locations in Ibiza and Busing people to the venue, Ibiza Rocks was evolving into something bigger! Last year saw the Ibiza Rocks hotel open in San Antonio, it provided a place to party around the Ibiza Rocks weekly events and it was also home to the Ibiza Rocks after parties. This year it seems that all the Ibiza Rocks gigs will take place in the Ibiza Rocks Hotel.

Judgement Sundays this year will be celbrating its 10 year anniversary in Ibiza, Ove this time Dj’s such as Tiesto, AVB, Ferry Corstan and Eddie Halliewll all played their first sets in Ibiza at Judgement Sundays. Judgement Sundays have now revealed their full lineups for Ibiza 2009. Its opening on June 7th 2009 and its good to see Yoji on the lineup for the 16th August purley because its one i predicted in an earlier post! (not that it was rocket science or anything!)

The lineup for Judgement Sundays 2009 surly has a night that would suit most people, as well as a host of ‘An Evening With’ events which will take place in the back room with two of Judgement Sundays favourite Dj’s Micky Slim and Krafty Kuts. Its good to see Utah Saints on the lineup as well as Roger Shah and LMP Dj’s who i managed to catch on the BBC introducing bus at Creamfields last year and they rocked the place!

Eden have confirmed which nights will be held in Eden in 2009 and it looks like one of the strongest weekly lineups they have had for a long time. The main notable addition is Hed Kandi which has moved across the island and now resides on Saturdays in Eden. Pete Tong is still there on Fridays after a very successful 2008 season. Mondays has a new night not many people have mentioned with Inside Out.

Another big move for 2009 seems like it could be Hed Kandi moving to Eden for the 2009 season. Hed Kandi has had its home at El Divino in Ibiza town for as long as i can remember but after reading a blog post over at Solo Records it seems they are on the move, There is no solid confirmation of this that i can find but I’m sure Danny over at Solo records wouldn’t blog about it if he didn’t have it on good word.

Hed Kandi moving is not one of the nights that i would have predicted to be moving to Eden but we were all saying this last season with Pete Tong. It seems “The Tong Effect” has spread this season. Hed Kandi is always a popular night in the Uk and I’m sure moving to Eden is more to capitalise on the San An crowd as I’m sure it will be a rammed night.

I could be telling you yesterdays news here but i have discovered that Judge Jules and Judgement Sundays have launched a new site dedicated to the popular Sunday night in Eden.

www.judgementsundays.es will host photo’s video’s and a forum dedicated to Judgement Sundays. It will provide you with information about the latest Judgement Sundays CD’s and most important of all the club dates for Ibiza. There are already club dates available on the site but they are for the 2008 season. As i believe it the website was launched in December so these listings will be changing for the 2009 season.

Finally you can also subscribe to the news letter were they will release the listings first.

Groove Armada enjoyed a great 2008 in Ibiza with their Lovebox events in the Backroom of Pete Tongs night Wonderland. For me it was a surprise that they were there, not that i thought they shouldn’t be but the back room of Eden wasn’t somewhere i pictured a Grove Armada night. Never the less it was a raging success, They recorded an Essential Mix from there at the beginning of the season which was on Radio 1.

wonderland opening, fri june 13

first off, i have to say we were only there for an hour or so, to have a look and a drink. i was quite tired and looking at the programme of the next days, i simply wanted to save my energies for other nights. but anyway, here’s the score – when we were there (between about 2am and 3:30am), groove armada were playing in the main room (and afterwards tong would have closed the night). the club was busy, the main dance floor really busy, but the venue wasn’t at full capacity. that’s no surprise though because neither cream opening the night before was packed – the island’s just not full yet. i am sure wonderland will be a success this summer, many people follow tong to eden and he really brings great guests this season. so the 3 big nights on friday will be wonderland, pure pacha and manumission. as for “wonderland or pure pacha?” i’d say: venue-wise, i personally think i’d stick to pure pacha because i just like pacha more than eden. music-wise though, i’d check the lineups (which are really good for both parties) and just decide which dj’s i’d prefer to see!
