On the roundabout and road going to DC10 there was a heavy police presence with lots of cars and bikes being pulled over and searched, i know police have had a presence outside before but i’ve never seen anything like that before in Ibiza.

Arriving at the club there wasn’t any queues outside so we walked straight in. As soon as you got in it was rammed, the outside bar area was busy but manageable. We headed to the inside room first off as they wasn’t allowing people on the terrace because it was already full, The main room was also very busy but there was enough room to get into the night.

After a couple of hours we headed over to the terrace which was a waste of time, they had let so many people in it was just one massive fight to try to move anywhere which was a shame, it made it impossible to stand in one place without being shoved around. We abandoned that idea and spent the rest of the night inside DC10.

Circo Loco @ DC10 Opening

For a lot of people DC 10 was the only reason to go to Ibiza, i think that’s being extremely short-sighted but that’s the way it was.

The 31st May is the day Circo Loco come back to the island and DC10 opens its doors once again! Im not really sure about the legality of it all as in the past it has seemed impossible for the club in its location to be granted the relevant licence to operate.

Despite this, it seems DC10 will be opening once again! WHats more suprising is that it is advertising that it will open at Midday.

In an interview with Ibiza Spotlight Andrea Pelino has set out his plans for the 2010 season, It is being promoted as a New Era, this means new resident Dj’s and a new start. You can expect to hear real underground deep house. In 2010 you can expect to hear Seth Troxler, Zip, Jamie Jones, DJ W!LD,  Tania Vulcano, Clive Henry, Timo Maas, Arpiar, Matthias Tanzmann, Damian Lazarus and Villalobos

After the opening party Circo Loco will be open every weekend.

Happy 2010 guys…..circoloco never dies!

As you may all know DC10 has been closed after it was shut down by the authorities, last year in 2009 the club didn’t open for the summer season. It was a closure that upset a lot of people and as people say it all of the time, the shutting down of DC10 brought people to call the end of Ibiza.

Over the last few years the authorities have really been clamping down, as its not my Island, I’m not really in a position to question their decisions. its because of these restrictions that I’m a little dubious that DC10 will open again like it did in the past. As far as I’m aware nothing has changed to let them operate as they did and still operate within their licence.

I personally hope that they do get to re open and stay open, especially if they open on that date as i plan on being there at that time which means i get to go

If it does then i expect it will be one hell of a party to go to and one to remember for anyone that goes.

Circo Loco Re-Opening 2010

I do feel very sorry for the owners of DC10 as the club has been operating for 10 years now. The club became a victim of its own success (the amount of people going there every Monday) and the enforcement of licenses up to a few years ago. Up until a few years ago a lot of premises had been aloud to operate outside of their licence without any bother. There was then a change in the people who run Ibiza which resulted in the clamp down on premises breaking the terms of its licence. Over the last few years there have been countless stories of bars being closed down for breaking its licence. Bora Bora was the first big name victim which resulted in DJ Gee upping sticks and leaving for Brazil. Kanya in San antonio got closed for a short while and Ibiza Rocks went through a tough time trying to put live bands on in Bar M

The DC10 saga simply boils down to the fact that if they are let of and aloud to open again then the authorities will have just gone against everything they have been doing for the last 2/3 years and they cant do that. Many people see the situation as DC10 being picked on but if you take a step back DC10 are the place that are continuously and knowingly breaking the law when everybody else has fallen into line, this is probably because they had the most to loose.

DC10 Loses Appeal

For those of you that don’t know; towards the end of last year DC10 got shut down by the authorities in Ibiza and were ordered to close for 12 months, If you want to catch up you can read my posts DC10 Shut Down For 57 Days, Another blow For DC10 and DC10 Closed YET AGAIN.

In now seems that the rumour mill is in full swing! A thread over at Ibiza Spotlight that has been going since the end of last summer has turned its attention to when and ware the club will open in 2009. Many people are reporting that the DC10 will be open June 1st. One blog run by someone on the island has stated that the club will be open with a strict capacity of 500 people. There are plenty of people claiming to have spoken to the owner of DC10 the dj’s of Circo loco, people are claiming to have friends of friends that make the decisions and it all point to the club opening as normal, You have to remember though at this time its all rumour and chinese whispers. 

One suggestion that has been made by McRakin from spotlight is that Circo Loco are attempting to Rent Summun in San Ann bay to have their parties in 2009. 

My views on it are that it is unlikely that DC10 will open as normal this year. I do however think that Circo Loco will be throwing parties in Ibiza. I would believe McRakin’s news about them trying to get Summum for their parties as i dont believe he would say it if it wasn’t true. In the past DC10/Circo Loco have always had news on their myspace about what has been happening but now it is all quiet.

Ciroc Loco once said that they will not be in Ibiza if DC10 is not open but they have already had a closing party at Privilege. 

All we can do now is wait! If DC10 opens on the 1st of June then expect chaos! There will be a lot of people dancing in the car park outside if they only let 500 people in.

DC10 – Circo Loco – Ibiza 2009

After years of raids and disputes with the Ibizan authorities, and last year’s enforced six week closure, the owners and promoters of DC10 and CircoLoco have announced that they will be relocating the club to another Balearic Island entirely.

The first CircoLoco of 2009 will take place in Mallorcan superclub BCM, while the promoters search for another venue on the island with what they call ‘the DC10 vibe.’

“We hope to return to Ibiza one day”, said Circo Loco’s Olaf Pirlo, “but for now [the authorities] make it impossible. Magaluf is now the true home of the underground”.

Id just like to remind people that yesterday was April Fools Day! The story is no longer on the mixmag site as it was completely fabricated! DC10 is not moving to Mallorca!

DC10 In Mallorca

The closure came 10 minutes before the club opened last Monday and one week before their closing party and is a result of DC10 allowing more than 65 people into the venue. As i have wrote on here a few times the legal capacity of the place is only 65 (though that figure changes from site to site) and by having parties every Monday they exceed that capacity.

Ive not really read what other people have said about it all this time but i cant imagine DC10 having many more parties. The authorities are enforcing the law every oppertunity which is what they are there for. The owners will know they will never continue the way they did.

A lot of people love DC10 and its the only reason they go, for many DC10 is Ibiza, it will be a great shame when DC10 closes but it is by no means the end for Ibiza. Circo Loco said they would never have a party in Ibiza that wasn’t at DC10 but on Tuesday night they held a party in Privilege. They obviously want to be partying somewhere and it wouldn’t surprise me if they hold their closing party in another club.

I would predict that next year unfortunately DC10 will be no more but Circo Loco will still be alive in Ibiza.

DC10 Closed YET AGAIN!

so this afternoon, at around 4:30pm, i was really asking myself if the bass is thundering out of the speakers in that house on the fields around the airport…many people on the island weren’t sure if dc-10 would be able to open or not. i was still busy, but when i finally made my way there some time after 6pm, i noticed that YES, there is something going on at dc-10!!! the club was open! and busy! went directly inside, on to the terrace…and aaaah…sunlight through the windows…rené dropping mad music…smiling faces all around…only at that point i realised how much i had missed this place during the last weeks! as you all know, it wasn’t the first time dc-10 was closed, so in a way it wasn’t new for me. but being back there was just GREAT! the terrace was already really busy while the inside bit was still quiet.

i had to leave again and only came back at around 11pm, when josé de divina had taken over from tania vulcano. this time, both floors were really busy and the party was going massively – basically just how i remember dc-10 from the last few years. josé de divina’s set was absolutely great (oh yes, i do go for the music when i go to dc10) and he played on the terrace till it closed short after 1am. the inside stayed open until about 3am.

some more info about the re-opening party…tix were either 35€ or 40€, i’m not exactly sure. they gave out stamps as always so you could leave and come back.

i think this Friday’s party was the warm-up to next Monday’s circoloco re-opening party. this one will be huge i’m sure. the thing is, i think right now no-one knows how long the place is gonna stay open. can they stay open for the rest of the season? is dc-10 just open for a few weeks again until it gets shut again? we’ll find out soon. one thing is for sure though, i’ve never heard so many voices saying “enjoy it while it’s still here”
