Mambo In The Mix 2013

Posted by Gary on Wednesday 4 September 2013

On the 19th September 2013, Cafe Mambo will be hosting a truly unique event for the second year running. Mambo In The Mix is an event that they put on to support the Red Cross in Ibiza and Formentera.

The event aims to raise a lot of money for charity which is a great thing but in order to raise this money, the guys at Cafe Mambo’s put on something special.

For one day only, Mabo mixes it up, the public can have the opportunity to provide the music and Dj in Mambos Dj booth, and the Dj’s server the drinks!

Last year saw the likes of Carl Cox, Armin Van Buuren and Seth Troxler (to name a few) all put a shift in serving food and drinks. Its an opportunity to get a little closer to the Dj’s and even catch a word with them as your ordering your drink :)

If your In Ibiza next week, then please go down, buy a drink, make a donation, think about how much money your going to spend each day while your away, and then maybe think about the people who will benefit from money you would probably never miss.

If you can make it to the event but would like to donate, please use the following link: www.cruzroja.es/mambointhemix

Ferry Corsten & Markus Schulz @ Cafe Del Mar

Posted by Gary on Monday 2 September 2013

At the start of the season, Ferry Corsten did a sunset set in Cafe Del Mar with Markus Schulz and they ahve now placed in on Sound Cloud for everyone to hear.

Over the years, Cafe del Mar hasnt been the venue of big name Dj’s, its been tranquil and relaxed, we used to joke about it because the place seemed to be shut every time we went past!

Now they have the new bar that’s next to Cafe Del Mar and the pre parties are getting better.

Nicole Moudaber Presents Mood Records Takeover

Posted by Gary on Friday 2 August 2013

Sands is a great little beach bar in Playa Den Bossa owned by Carl Cox (or part owned, im not 100% sure), they host some great parties on the Beach, the party that gains the most publicity probably being Carl Coxes birthday which gets broadcast every year.

They have other parties all the time though and this is a night that attracted my attention. Nicole Moudaber Presents Mood Records Takeover. I dont think im aware of Nicole Moudaber, however her label (Mood records) is one that is being supported by a lot of Dj’s including Carl Cox. This part that caught my eye however, was Danny Tenaglia being on the line-up.

If you want to take part in a cool party on the beach, head down to Sands in PDB, entry is free at Sands and the party starts at 3pm

Date: Wednesday, August 7, from 3pm on.

Line-up:
Danny Tenaglia
Anja Schneider
Nicole Moudaber
Carlo Lio
Alan Fitzpatrick
Just Be (aka Bushwacka!)
Nathan Barato
Tom Peters

Danny Howard Ibiza 2013

Posted by Gary on Tuesday 18 June 2013

A couple of years ago, i was sat at work one Friday morning listening to the radio 1 Dj competition. I remember it so well, because there was a Blackpool lad on. It’s not often we get on the news or radio, unless it’s a bad news!

Danny Howard was the Dj and he wiped the floor with his competition. His prize ended up being the prize that just keeps giving. Warmup slot at Ushuaia for the radio 1 weekend, followed by an invite to play at space the same night, if i remember rightly, he ended up doing a 6 hour set in there. The following year offered more gigs, a Radio show and more of a season in Ibiza.

In 2013, Danny has decent summer schedule for his Ibiza gigs.

I feel a bit guilty starting this blog post off talking about him as though he is a competition winner because he is now far from that. It’s a fairy tale with an amazing ending though, i don’t know Danny personally (though there is probably a connection through mates, Blackpool inst that big!) though it seems like the boy next door has done good!

Enough of the sentimental guff, Go and check Danny out this summer if you’re in Ibiza. He has already played Pacha this season and the pre party on Mambos for which he appeared on Mambo TV.

So far i have the following dates for Danny

  • Friday 5th July – Judgement, Ibiza
  • Friday 12th July – Judgement, Ibiza
  • Friday 19th July – Judgement, Ibiza
  • Monday 22nd July – Pacha, Ibiza
  • Friday 2nd August – Judgement, Ibiza
  • 2nd – 4th August – Radio 1, Ibiza weekend
  • Saturday 3rd August – Cream/Radio 1, Privilege, Ibiza

Mambo In The Mix

Posted by Gary on Friday 14 September 2012

Next Tuesday, Mambo play host to a very special night for a great cause. Mambo in The Mix, is a charity event raising money for the Red Cross, and they have something very special lined up.

Planned to coincide with their 18th birthday (eek, they were 5 when i first went!) They have a night of drinks and music planned, with a twist.

On the night you can expect to see the following Artisits:

  • Armin Van Buuren
  • Paul Van Dyk
  • Carl Cox
  • Eric Prydz
  • Judge Jules
  • Roger Sanchez
  • Harnan Cattaneo
  • Nervo
  • Funkagenda
  • Guto
  • Duane Harden
  • Woody Van Eyden
  • Adrian Lux
  • M.A.N.D.Y
  • Mark Fanciulli
  • DJ Oliver
  • Seth Troxler
  • Zdar Of Cassius

All of these Dj’s will be working behind the bar in Mambo at some point throughout the evening. In what would be the most surreal event if it ever happened to you, PVD could be serving you a beer, or Seth Troxler could be mixing your Pimms!

Whats more, you could be playing the music from the Dj booth, while the Dj’s are mixing the drinks! It sounds like Mambos will be a road block on the 18th, but it will be well worth it for your favourite DJ to be serving you, and money being raised for charity.

I think its great these guys have taken time to do this, so return the favour and if you’re in Ibiza next Tuesday, go down and check it out. If you’re not there but would like to contribute, then head over and make a donation on the Mambo website

MYNC @ Bora Bora August 2012

Posted by Gary on Wednesday 8 August 2012

Bora Bora IS Ibiza to a lot of people…. Well it used to be, In the late 90’s and the early 00’s Bora Bora built its name as the ultimate Ibiza destination, Sun Sea Sand and amazing tunes played all day long on the beach, the idealistic day in Ibiza didn’t get any better.

Over the last 5 years however, for various reasons Bora Bora has been through a lul. The spark had been extinguished, people have still been going and loving it, but for people who remember it pre 2007, it had lost the spark that made it extra special.

But this season, things are looking up, Bora Bora has started to catch my attention again, i don’t live in Ibiza, so if something catches my attention, it’s not because ive walked past it, it’s because people are talking about it, which means it’s getting good again because for the last few years people haven’t been talking about Bora Bora

In steps MYNC presents Cr2 Live And Direct  @ Bora Bora, Finally, something to make you raise an eyebrow, a reason to go to Bora Bora because something great is happening not just because they pay someone to walk round in a spiderman suit. If you’re not sure, Cr2 are the label behind the Space Ibiza CD and this seasons Cafe Mambo CD. They are broadcasting from Bora Bora each month and they are making a party people are paying attention to.

This Month, they are at Bora Bora on Wednesday the 15th August With special guest Fat Boy Slim straight from his performance from the Olympic games. I Hope he comes on that giant octopus!

Check out Felix Da Housecat’s set from the June party this year on Soundcloud

Rockers Revenge Beach Party

Posted by Gary on Friday 3 August 2012

Everyone loves the beach, and everyone loves a party, put them together and through in one of the best dance acts of all time, and you have yourself one hell of a party.

If you’re not bothered about the Radio 1 gig  (which most people aren’t) or you didn’t get a ticket, then head down to La Plage which is net to the radio 1 gig and party on down to Groove Armada, Tim Sweeney and Huxley. With only 2000 people getting into the Radio 1 show ive got a feeling this beach part is going to be a road block

The last time i was partying on the beach down there was when Ushuaia was cool and only a bar on the beach. If i had the option, i would probably opt for this beach party. and the best thing is… ITS FREE!
