Mambo In The Mix

Posted by Gary on Friday 14 September 2012

Next Tuesday, Mambo play host to a very special night for a great cause. Mambo in The Mix, is a charity event raising money for the Red Cross, and they have something very special lined up.

Planned to coincide with their 18th birthday (eek, they were 5 when i first went!) They have a night of drinks and music planned, with a twist.

On the night you can expect to see the following Artisits:

  • Armin Van Buuren
  • Paul Van Dyk
  • Carl Cox
  • Eric Prydz
  • Judge Jules
  • Roger Sanchez
  • Harnan Cattaneo
  • Nervo
  • Funkagenda
  • Guto
  • Duane Harden
  • Woody Van Eyden
  • Adrian Lux
  • M.A.N.D.Y
  • Mark Fanciulli
  • DJ Oliver
  • Seth Troxler
  • Zdar Of Cassius

All of these Dj’s will be working behind the bar in Mambo at some point throughout the evening. In what would be the most surreal event if it ever happened to you, PVD could be serving you a beer, or Seth Troxler could be mixing your Pimms!

Whats more, you could be playing the music from the Dj booth, while the Dj’s are mixing the drinks! It sounds like Mambos will be a road block on the 18th, but it will be well worth it for your favourite DJ to be serving you, and money being raised for charity.

I think its great these guys have taken time to do this, so return the favour and if you’re in Ibiza next Tuesday, go down and check it out. If you’re not there but would like to contribute, then head over and make a donation on the Mambo website

MYNC @ Bora Bora August 2012

Posted by Gary on Wednesday 8 August 2012

Bora Bora IS Ibiza to a lot of people…. Well it used to be, In the late 90′s and the early 00′s Bora Bora built its name as the ultimate Ibiza destination, Sun Sea Sand and amazing tunes played all day long on the beach, the idealistic day in Ibiza didn’t get any better.

Over the last 5 years however, for various reasons Bora Bora has been through a lul. The spark had been extinguished, people have still been going and loving it, but for people who remember it pre 2007, it had lost the spark that made it extra special.

But this season, things are looking up, Bora Bora has started to catch my attention again, i don’t live in Ibiza, so if something catches my attention, it’s not because ive walked past it, it’s because people are talking about it, which means it’s getting good again because for the last few years people haven’t been talking about Bora Bora

In steps MYNC presents Cr2 Live And Direct  @ Bora Bora, Finally, something to make you raise an eyebrow, a reason to go to Bora Bora because something great is happening not just because they pay someone to walk round in a spiderman suit. If you’re not sure, Cr2 are the label behind the Space Ibiza CD and this seasons Cafe Mambo CD. They are broadcasting from Bora Bora each month and they are making a party people are paying attention to.

This Month, they are at Bora Bora on Wednesday the 15th August With special guest Fat Boy Slim straight from his performance from the Olympic games. I Hope he comes on that giant octopus!

Rockers Revenge Beach Party

Posted by Gary on Friday 3 August 2012

Everyone loves the beach, and everyone loves a party, put them together and through in one of the best dance acts of all time, and you have yourself one hell of a party.

If you’re not bothered about the Radio 1 gig  (which most people aren’t) or you didn’t get a ticket, then head down to La Plage which is net to the radio 1 gig and party on down to Groove Armada, Tim Sweeney and Huxley. With only 2000 people getting into the Radio 1 show ive got a feeling this beach part is going to be a road block

The last time i was partying on the beach down there was when Ushuaia was cool and only a bar on the beach. If i had the option, i would probably opt for this beach party. and the best thing is… ITS FREE!

Ibiza Rocks Bar – Playa Den Bossa

Posted by Gary on Monday 12 March 2012

Ibiza Rocks announced last week that they will be opening an Ibiza Rocks Bar / Dinner in Playa Den Bossa for the 2012 season. Traditionally, most things Ibiza Rocks have been in the surrounds of San Antonio.

Moving into Playa Den Bossa will raise some eyebrows and no doubt some people will moan. I personally think it would be a good move. and here is why

  1. I have openly moaned about Ibiza Rocks on here before but one thing that i do love about Ibiza Rocks Bar is the food. I dont recall having some ware reliably great to eat in PDB at good prices. Ibiza Rocks at the very minimum will provide some great food at great prices. I recommend the pancakes for breakfast!
  2. It opens up getting to Ibiza Rocks, ive only stayed in PDB at the very start of the season when not much is open so im not sure if this was put on anyway, but i will presume transport will be put on from the venue.
  3. It will provide some more pre parties. No town can have to many pre parties!

Ibiza Rocks 2012

Posted by Gary on Sunday 30 October 2011

2011 was a great year for the Ibiza Rocks guys, they had a great lineup of talent on during the summer and they also went all Ska with their closing party when Madness took to the stage to finish of the year. Madness playing at Ibiza Rocks fit in well with a whole host of gigs from bands, groups that you would not expect to see on the Island and it all seems to have gone down well.

Ibiza Rocks are already however, busy planning next year. The Hotel opens from the 15th May with weekly gigs taking place from the 6th June for 17 weeks. You can expect the usual top class lineup every Wednesday throughout the summer and if your staying at the hotel the your gig ticket is already included in the price.

New for 2012 are Saturday nights, if bands are not completely your thing you can go to the hotel on a Saturday to see a top class range of Dj’s playing on the main stage next to the pool. Last year, people like Annie Mac and FatBoy Slim played in the hotel, other dates that stick in my mind in the past is Stave Angello with his Size Matters party.

Electronique In Ibiza 2011

Posted by Gary on Monday 11 July 2011

In 2011 Manchester really seems to be pushing its own thing on Ibiza. So far Sankeys has had nothing but good reviews from what ive read and moving forward another night will be hitting the white isle.

Between the 23rd and 28th July Electronique which is run by Si Heslin will be throwing a host of parties across different venues in Ibiza. Electronique is a night born in Manchester and has had plenty of very successful nights in Sankeys Manchester and around the UK. Electronique plays deep and soulful tech house music and in a couple of weeks will be taking over Ibiza.

They kick of their tour playing the Zoo Project boat party which is generally considered one of the best boat parties to go on, they will also take on Hush, a pool party at Kanya and what must be the pinnacle of this trip for them, they will be taking over the Red Room @ Space on the 27th July which is also a Northern Lights Night which would make this an amazing night to go to.

If you want to hear what Electronique is about, you should all remember Mr Pedros who is one of their residents, who kindly did this set for the blog, You will be able to catch Mr Pedros on the 26th July @ Kanya, 27th July @ Space and 28th July @ Bunker

If you want to check out more from Electronique then on the 20th July you will be able to buy their 10 track Ibiza sampler from Beatport, which you can trust me when i say, is really good!

Electronique Dates 2011:

23rd July Electronique @ Zoo Project Boatparty & TBC

24th July IamStereo @ Hush

26th July Electronique Pool Party @ Kanya

27th July Electronique @ SPACE

28th July Electronique @ Bunker

Ibiza Diary (Coming Next Week)

Posted by Paul on Sunday 10 July 2011

This is a quick blog pre next weeks diary entries. No doubt whatever we got up to over there next week will provide some insight into the island and of course our silly raver heads but I just wanted to outline what our battle plans were so if anyone has a special interest in a place they can tune in to see what the place is like from a true consumers point of view. No DJ favortism, music mag bias, snotty journalist write up, just pure 100% how it is gonna be for YOU or rather how it was for me and my merry band of trance warriors, techno kids and minimal yeads!!

We have made a commitment to each other to have it as large as humanly possible and I promise you all that I will bring describe it to you in as much delicious detail as I (legally) can!!

The definates are Circo Loco @ DC10, Be @ Space, Cream @ Amnesia, Zoo Project. I am of course allowing for a few nights of spontaneity to see where the island takes me. I will also try to check out Sankeys and feel that I have missed out on the Fiesta del Agua in the past so will try to write up what a night at that landmark party is like.

If your interested in any of these then check out my Ibiza diary next week…

Peace, Love and Techno
